Maranatha is an Aramaic word which means “the Lord is coming” or “Come O Lord”! The early church lived under the iron rule of Rome who demanded everyone to declare that Caesar was god! Living under these conditions, oppressed believers were encouraged to greet each other with the reminder that the Lord is coming back and  at that time all the wrongs will be righted!   In these disturbing and confusing times Christ followers alive today live in the knowledge that our Lord could come back at any moment. We should be expecting Him to come back and yes, longing for Him to come back!  Which means we should be ready!!  Just listen to the news and read your Bible Are you ready?, it really could be today!  Yes, I feel anxiety about the direction our country is taking, but even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!!!
