Today I was reminded why I do not want the government to do anything that the private sector can do! Why? Because the government is slow, inept, confusing and lacks order and rhyme or reason in the way they do things. Recently, I got a notice saying I needed to renew my driver’s license, but could not do it online; rather I had to go to a DMV location in person.
They opened at 8 a.m. this morning and I arrived at 7: 30 a.m. and found myself about 30th in line. Well, I am standing there in a 30 degree real feel chill. Give me patience Lord! The guy behind me was coughing on my back (and I'm thinking Corona virus). Give me patience Lord! Then a lady comes out and says anyone here for CDL or a new license should form two lines over here. Of course, many people who arrived later than me immediately peeled off for one of the other lines. No problem! I moved up to the 13th spot. But then when they opened the doors at 8, they allowed the other two lines to enter first! Give me patience Lord! Then after sitting on a hard plastic chair (you dare not leave or lose your seat), and after 150 were called before me, S3014 was finally called. Lord give me patience! Fortunately, the lady was pleasant and made it easy and thankfully I had gone online first and had all the necessary documentation with me. Whew! I will have my new license in two weeks. I will not have to do this again for six years, but it was probably good for me, because as they say, “ What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.”
“And not only so, but we glory in tribulation also, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, And patience experience; and experience hope!” Ouch!
