Trials and Tribulations

If you read the Bible, you know that it speaks often about Christians going through trials! In fact, we followers of Christ should not expect a carefree ride! That was never promised to us. But sometimes it seems the trials pile up. We have a precious family in our church family who is going through a lot. They lost a child a year ago, they now have a baby in PICU, and their oldest son is scheduled for surgery this week! How much can one family endure?

Well my thoughts went to Job in the Old Testament. Talk about a deluge of trials. He lost his livelihood, his children, his standing in the community, and his health. All at once. Wow! How much can a man take?  Here is what Job said, ”Naked I came from my Mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.”  What faith!

In the New Testament it says,  “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man, and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you (He) is able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.” It is the Word of God! So, believe it, claim it, and stand on it!!
