What's in a Name-
Prince of Peace
12/25/2022
Isaiah 9:6
During the summer of 2020 we heard mobs chanting- NO JUSTICE-NO PEACE! Today I am starting a Christmas chant- NO JESUS-NO PEACE! People say they want world peace, but there will be no peace in the world, until there is peace in the hearts of people. And there will be no peace in the hearts of people until they are rightly related to the Prince of Peace. Listen and learn about this Prince of Peace.
Prince of Peace - Eternal Father
12/18/2022
Isaiah 9:6
Today we look at another name ascribed to our Savior by Isaiah the prophet. This one is a hyphenated word, consisting of 'Father' (used as we normally would think of) and 'Eternal' (meaning everlasting or unceasing in duration), which is "ETERNAL FATHER!" This name often confuses people because, how can "the Son given" also be called Eternal Father? Today's message will answer these questions.
Prince of Peace - Mighty God
12/11/2022
Isaiah 9:6
The "world" has always been the "world," with all of its hate-filled and sin-filled evil, but when a seven year-old girl can be snatched from the safety of her driveway and brutally murdered, well we have reached new depths of evil! If there has ever been a time we need "Mighty God" on our side, it is now!
What's in a Name 12/4/2022
Isaiah 9:6
Juliet asked Romeo, "What's in a name?" Well, the answer to that question is - a lot! Otherwise, why do parents agonize over what to name their child? In Bible times, a name given often had special meaning, not the least of which is the name above every name- JESUS CHRIST! Yet, there are hundreds of other names given to our Lord. Over the next four Sundays, we will talk about four of His names recorded by Isaiah the prophet seven hundred years before Jesus was even born!
Preparing the Way
11/27/2022
John 1
I recently watched a documentary about how the secret service prepares for the President of the United States to travel internationally. I learned they start preparing three months in advance, and it takes thousands of people to pull it off. Did you catch that? Thousands of people. Yet, there was only one man who prepared the way for the coming of Messiah. His name was John the Baptist.
Count Your Blesser
10/22/2022
Genesis 22:1-14
This week is Thanksgiving and this is the week we typically stop and count our blessings. Obviously we have a lot to be thankful for in this country! But today, I want to shift our thoughts slightly, and put the focus on the "Blesser" rather than the "blessings." James reminds us "Every good thing bestowed, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights."
Praise HIM!
Clubhouse or Lighthouse?
11/13/2022
John 1:1-9
We all know we live in a very dark world, and it is getting darker every day. Perhaps we, the church in America, are partially to blame. Too many churches have become a place where a tight-knit, closed, inward-focused group of people gather, rather than being outward-focused light houses providing guidance to people desiring safe harbors. Instead of cussing the darkness around us, we are going to talk about being the light to dispel the darkness around us.
A Cat-like Walk
11/6/2022
Ephesians 5:11-17
We took a walking tour through the French Quarter once upon a time, and the guide pointed out high, protective walls around many of the houses. Embedded in the top of the walls were shards of glass to serve as a deterrent to intruders. Later, I read a description of a cat walking on top of that wall. The cat stepped very carefully
raising one paw and gingerly placing it down into a safe spot and then again with the next paw. We as Christians also need to be careful in our "walk." The Bible in referring to our "walk" is talking about the way we live our Christian life.
Crayon Box Baptist Church
10/30/2022
Ephesians 4:11-13
The church is like a box of crayons! In a 64 count box you have different colors and shades, all the way from Jazzberry Jam to Periwinkle, and each one is necessary if a child is going to have a complete palette. Likewise, every member of the body of Christ at South Park Baptist Church needs to be in their place in our body, or we will be incomplete as a church.
Make Over for Tango
10/22/2022
Ephesians 4:25-30
In the short story, "Clothes Make the Man," Tango and two other robbers plan to rob a home. Tango, being dressed as a decoy policeman, actual takes on the role. The point of the story being, "Clothes Make the Man." Our message today makes the point that the man inside chooses what to put on the outside. In other words, I want to give a fourfold description of a new man in Christ! We are told to take the off the "rags" of the old self and put on the" royal riches" of the new self.
Time to Fire Up!
10/16/2022
Acts 2
Recently, we went to New England to see the Fall colors, and one of the things I noticed were these old, beautiful, picturesqe, DEAD churches! It made me sad. These were once vibrant churches, so what happened? The "presence and power" of the Holy Spirit had departed. We do not want that to happen at our church. So today it is time for us to get fired up!!!

Wham! Bam! Slam Again
9/25/2022
Jeremiah 18:1-6
Today, if I said I was going to take you down to the Potter's House, you might think I am talking about the megachurch on Kiest Blvd, but you would be wrong! Join me as we go down to the Lord's Potter House in the book of Jeremiah! Here we are reminded that sometimes God has to slam us to the wheel of life, not because He is mad at us, but because He is creating a masterpiece and He has to remove every flaw, until He has a vessel or tool He can use to His glory!
Rend the Heavens Lord
9/18/2022
II Chronicles 7:11-1430
Isaiah the prophet once prayed that God would "...rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at Thy presence"! That is my prayer today! "God would you please show up in a big way today! Bring revival to our people. I ask that your Holy Spirit would fall upon our church. and that your presence would be so apparent that it will change all of us from the inside out. In Jesus name, Amen" Will you join me in that prayer as we fellowship around God's Word?
Calling 9-1-1 on 9/11 Days
9/11/2022
Mark 14:32-36
There are events in history that we remember exactly where we were when we heard about it. One is on 9/11 when we heard about planes crashing into buildings! Church members started calling stunned and confused and asking what we should do. All I knew to do was to call our people to prayer. Whenever, we face a major crisis, either nationally or personally, our first response should be a turning to God in prayer. Let us learn from the life of our Savior.
Hi Ho! Hi Ho!
9/4/2022
Colossians 3:22-25
You may remember the "7 Dwarfs" singing, " Hi Ho, Hi Ho it's off to work we go!" Well, I don't know of too many people, after waking up too early, fighting to get the kids ready for school; and fighting Metroplex traffic, who are singing such cheery and bright songs. Maybe it is more like, "I owe, I owe, so off to work I go." We who are Christians should have a Biblical attitude toward our work. Today's message focuses on what that means. Happy Labor Day!
Ready or Not!
8/27/2022
Luke 12:35-40
Some of you may remember playing "HIde n' Seek" as a child. A game where a one person would count to one hundred, and the other kids would run and hide. Then the counter would yell "Ready or Not here I come!" The counter would try and find the hiders before they could return safely to base. Great fun! Today's message is about our Lord's second coming to Earth, and on that day, some people will be ready and some will not be ready. Nevertheless, Ready or Not here He comes! Are you ready?
Spiritual Memory Booster
8/20/2022
I Corinthians 11:23-30
As we get older and our minds collect massive amounts of information, our memories tend to fade unless we keep something at the forefront of our mind! Because God knew that about us and He did not want us to ever forget what our Savior did for us on the cross, He instituted the Lord's Supper as a perpetual reminder of what Christ did for us! Let us prepare our hearts for reflection and celebration.
The Domino Effect
7/24/2022
James 3:1-8
As you know, we are still emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, and some may think this is the worst pandemic ever seen. However, the world has seen its fair share of pandemics. Today's message looks at a spiritual pandemic that can sweep across a church like wildfire, or like falling dominos, and literally block or even destroy a church.
Phony Bologna
7/17/2022
Matthew 6:1-18
One of the reasons people give for not going to church is because of “… all those hypocrites up there.” A hypocrite is someone who pretends to be something they are not. Doing the right thing with the wrong motive iis being hypocritical. Struggling sinners, saved by grace, trying to help each other find God’s way are not hypocrites. Let us look to God's Word for a different perspective from the world.
Send the Fire
7/10/2022
Ezra 9:1-8
After 70 years of Babylonian captivity, God used Cyrus of Persia to allow the people of God to return to Jerusalem. The return occurred in three phases. Phase one was the initial return led by Zerubbabel with permission to rebuild the Temple. Phase two was led by Ezra; the main point is how he led the people of God to experience “SPIRITUAL REVIVAL. Phase three was when Nehemiah led a group back to rebuild the wall around the city. Our focus is on Phase two and the emphasis on “SPIRITUAL REVIVAL.”
Cherish the Children
7/3/2022
Psalm 136:13-16
One of the most notable lines in the Declaration of Independence, a founding document of our country, lays out our right to “LIFE, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Notice the right to LIFE! The debate today is over the question of when life begins. Join me as we allow the Word of God to guide us through this very relevant subject today,
Trust God When Things Are Changing
6/26/2022
Emmanuel Lalfelkima
Habakkuk 3:17-19
When we wait on God and when we can’t understand the things that are happening around us, it is easy to be discouraged and fearful. However, God is in control and is aware of the things happening around us. He knows the changes around us and He is on top of things.
Reclaim the Boys

Family Foundations Series
Daniel 3:8-18
We know how the world describes a "real man" but today we see how the Word of God describes a "real man" of God! Since this is Father's Day we focus on our men and boys, because our boys need a model of what a man of God looks liike. If we don't grab hold of this, we are in danger of losing this next generation of young men.
Time to Pig Up, Er Man Up!
6/12/2022
Family Foundations Series
Romans 12:1-2
One day, a pig and a chicken were walking along and they saw a sign in the window which said: “Wanted: Bacon and Eggs.” So, the chicken said, I'm feeling generous today, why don’t we volunteer? The pig said, “Oh Sure! For you that’s a contribution, but for me that is a total commitment!” Today I am challenging our men to be an all in, sold out, totally devoted followers of Jesus Christ! Oh! Man of God- Rise Up!!!
Our God is Unlimited

Numbers 11:10-15
Sometimes, when I listen to pastors of big, booming, mega churches, I come away discouraged and not inspired! So, as I raise the expectations of our church leaders, especially our men, I wondered this week if some of our men are feeling overwhelmed rather than inspired. I want to talk about discouragement today, from the life of a man that might surprise you.
God's Medal of Honor
5/29/2022
Family Foundations Series
2 Timothy 2:10-21
The highest award our country gives to our military heroes, is called “The Medal of Honor”! It is given for distinguished acts of valor! Obviously, this is a big deal, because only 3,530 have been given in the history of our country! However, God has a “Medal of Honor” for those who are “vessels for honor” in their service to Him! Let’s talk about what it means to be a “vessel for honor” for God!
Hidden Destruction
5/21/2022
Family Foundations Series
Colossians 2:9-10
God has designed an infrastructure for society, and more particularly for the family, which involves people being in positions of Spiritual authority over us. We call them “Spiritual Headships”! Why? Because God is a God of order and organization, and He knows someone must be at the top of the organizational chart, or there will be chaos. Yet, today we see a pervasive “spirit of rebellion” against authority in our country, and it is silently eating away at God’s intended structure for our families and our society..
Tame That Tiger
5/15/2022
Family Foundations Series
Ephesians 6:4
There is a popular view today that says human nature is basically good at birth, and it is a lack of education or their social environment that messes kids up. However, that is diametrically opposed to the teaching of Scripture. When it comes to child rearing, we, as Christian parents, start with the presupposition that our children are born sinners. Then it is our job to “tame that little tiger” by consistently applying God honoring, Biblically-based discipline.
Our Gap "Kidz"
5/8/2022
Family Foundations Series
Psalm 5:1-3
Some parents choose to buy their kids cool, comfy, and trendy clothes, and they are sometimes refered to as GAP KIDS. There is no problem with that, but we should be concerned about our Kingdom Kidz in another way. In fact, the most important thing a Mom can do for her kids is to consistently and persistently pray a wall of protection around her kids- and then when it is breached, run to fill the gap in the wall with intercessory prayer. I pray this encourages our Moms today.
Money Matters

Family Foundation Series
Proverbs 3:9-10
We continue our series on “Family Foundations” by talking about a subject you might not connect with family - Finances. The experts tell us that finances are one of the top three problems couples have in their marriage. We do not suggest practical tips on budgeting and debt management etc., but rather we drill down on the root problem, which always starts with a Spiritual or heart problem. Let’s allow the Word of God speak for itself.
Marriage 101
4/24/2022
Family Foundation Series
Hebrews 13:4
Today we start a series on Family Foundations and we begin with the primary relationship in the family. We will be talking about a healthy Christian marriage. Because there are volumes written on the subject, we will focus on three essential ingredients to marriage.
Thus our title is “Marriage 101.”

Liar, Lunatic, or Lord?
4/17/2022
Easter Sunday
Matthew 28: 1-8
Today we remember a man from history who made some outrageous claims! Things like, “He was the Son of God,” “He lived a sinless life;” He died on a cross for “other“ people. And the most outlandish claim was that “He was raised back to life from the dead.” As one theologian said, “Anyone who makes claims like that is either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord He claimed to be! We believe the latter because of what we are celebrating today! But the question is: How are we going to respond to this man of history?
Remembering the Better Way
4/10/2022
Leviticus 16:29-34
In observing the Lord’s Supper, I cannot think of a better way to prepare our hearts to do that, than to study one of the Old Testament Feasts. Specifically we will be talking about the Feast of Yom Kippur, but we are going to see that this foreshadows the death of Christ on the cross, and we will see that His way is the better way, because we see that Christ was the fulfillment of the symbolism in the feast.
Setting the Stage
4/3/2022
Revelation 13:1-9
Listening to world leaders today, it seems apparent to me that they are setting the stage for a “one world government” which will be controlled by a “one world leader.” They are not doing it for Biblical reasons, but they are unknowingly setting the stage for the Antichrist, and his globalist rule. Yet, as Chrisatians, we have no fear!! Listen and hear about our Good News to share!!!!!!
Spiritual Heart Plaque
3/27/2022
Matthew 5:23-24
When plaque builds up in our arteries, it can restrict the flow of blood to the heart muscle and the physician may insert a stent to restore the life-giving flow of blood. Simmarly, in our Christian lives, there is plaque that can build up and restrict the life-giving flow of the Holy Spirit to our spiritual heart. When that happens we may need a stent which I am going to call REVIVAL! Today's message is about some spiritual plaque that may need attention.
A Mandate for Ministry
3/20/2022
I Thessalonians 2:5-12
The Bible teaches that every born again Christian is a minister, but there are some positions in the church that are to train others in the work of the ministry. Today we recognize some of those “trainers” for their long and faithful service to our Lord and to our church, but this message is for ALL the ministers in our church, both the “trainers” and those being trained.
Kingdom Kidz Kount
3/13/2022
Mark 10: 13-16
Today's message shows us how important children are to the Lord.. God's Word teaches that parents and the church have a responsibility to lead our children to Christ and to disciple them into knowing and growing as followers of Jesus Christ! This is why we are launching our Kingdom Kidz ministry today. Let’s celebrate!
Wake Up Church!
3/06/2022
I Corinthians 15: 51-52
We are living in a time when the world is “woke” but the church of Jesus Christ needs to wake up -now! It seems the world is coming unhinged and some people are fearful, and they should be. But the Christian faces this fear with faith, a faith in Jesus Christ. We know He will straighten out this mess when He returns, but when He does, we Christians better be ready. Wake up church!!!!
A Cost Analysis
2/26/2022
Luke 14:25-35
One of the 'SOLA’s' coming out of the reformation was SOLA FIDE, which means faith alone! Our salvation is through grace by faith plus nothing. It is a free gift! However, discipleship and being a true follower of Jesus Christ will cost us something. Today’s challenge from scripture is to be an all in, sold out follower of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Put Me In Lord!
2/20/2022
Matthew 26:6-13
Little League baseball games often play, “Put me in coach, I am ready to play today!’, over the speakers. Today we are extending a challenge to our people and changing the words to “Put me in Lord, I am ready to serve today!”, because we are focusing on our Kingdom Kidz ministry this year, and we are praying to the “Lord of the harvest, to raise up laborers” who are absolutely, all in, and devoted to serving children and their families. Are you one He is calling?
Taboo or Not?
2/13/2022
Romans 14:1-6, 10-12
In the 19th century, there were two preachers from England who got cross ways. Charles Spurgeon questioned Joseph Parkers' spirituality for going to the theatre; whereas, Parker questioned Spurgeon for smoking an occasional cigar? Who was right? In our passage today, the Apostle Paul warns us about one Christian pontificating over another Christian in areas where the scripture does not address an issue as either clearly black or white.

Just As You Are
1/30/2022
Mark 2:13-17
Everyone knows of Billy Graham, and that his signature invitation song was “Just As I Am”. But what you might not know is that the lyrics were written by an invalid lady in England who wanted to serve God but did not know how with her handicap. So when she asked her minister about this, he said, “Just come to Him as you are”. Well the rest is history. Now we know this is our Lord’s attitude toward lost sinners, but I wonder if that is the attitude of the church today. Let’s talk about this today.
Root to Fruit Growth Principle
1/22/2022
Mark 7:14-23
There is a principle we all need to understand and apply to our lives, which I will call it the “root to fruit” growth principle. A tree’s roots must grow downward and deep, before it will see any fruit grow upward. A fruit tree may go years without any visible fruit, but what we don’t see is the root system growing and developing so that it can grow fruit! Likewise, in our Christian life, we must have our roots growing deep in our relationship with Jesus before we can expect to see our church grow and bear fruit!
Remember the Cross
1/16/2022
Leviticus 4: 1-2, 13-21
People often come up with a rallying cry to inspire people to a cause. For example, “Remember the Alamo!” or “Remember the Maine!” Well, today I want to rally our people to our cause by saying, “Remember the Cross!” As we prepare to partake of the Lord’s Supper today, remember Jesus and what He did for you on the cross!

I Pity the Fool
1/2/2022
James 4:13-17
Most businesses will most likely have already devised a strategic plan for 2022, complete with goals and metrics to track their progress. Although, a church is not run exactly like a business, we do have a mission and vision and use sound accounting principles when handling God’s money. However, there is a right way and a wrong way for churches and individual believers to plan, especially as we plan for 2022, and we learn about that today.
