A Belated Thanksgiving

Genesis 6

Come Clean Soapy
9/27/2020

Joshua 7:10-13
One of several blockers to revival is when church members harbor hidden sins.  We see this in Achan when he disobeyed and kept some spoils for himself and then tried to hide and lie about his sins.  The consequences of that hidden sin did not just affect Achan, but affected the whole tribe.

All In

9/20/2020

Mark 14:3-9

You have probably heard the term, "All In." In the game of poker, it means you bet All that you have on this one hand.  You're not sort of in, but you are all in.  Today's message takes a look at a woman who was "all in" when it came to her commitment to our Lord.

Binary Choice

9/13/2020

Revelation 3:14-22

Do you prefer your coffee hot, cold, or lukewarm?  It is really a binary choice - you either like it hot or cold.  No one likes it lukewarm!  Same way God feels about us as Christians - he wants us either on fire for him or stone cold.  Today's message is about the church at Laodicea and God's message to them.

When In Rome ...
8/9/2020

Revelation 2:12-17
The idiom "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" is attributed to St. Ambroise. Since the Romans fasted on Saturday, when in Rome, he would fast on Saturday.  But when he was in Milan, he fasted when they fasted.  People today often adapt their behavior to the actions of the people around them.  The church at Pergamum faced this challenge as well.

Suffering Saints

8/2/2020

Revelation 2:8-11

Psalm 27: 1-3

President Franklin D. Roosevelt once famously said at the beginning of his presidency,  during the Great Depression, that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.  He knew that the emotion of fear was a paralyzing one.  As Christians, the Prince of Peace offers us emotional peace to offset our fears.

He is Risen!  - 4/12/2020

Acts 17:30-34

Real Faith  - 3/29/2020

I Peter 5:5-7

The numbers have been declining since the 1950's but as recently as 2019, 65% of Americans claim to be Christians.  That means there are 215 Million professing Christians in our country.  We have to wonder why then are we not having more impact on our culture and society.  Maybe it is because some have learned to put on a mask and play the game, but is their faith REAL?

Ain't Skeered - 3/22/2020

Philippians 4:6-7

Nike has had some great slogans for their products.  One went something like "Sometimes you are scared - Just do it anyway!" and T-shirts saying No Fear.   As a spin off of that, their slogan became, "Just Do It."  Or as a country boy from Tennesse used to say, "Ain't Skeered."

Contentment - Less is More

I Timothy 6:6-10

Today's message is a counterbalance to the attitude of coveteousness by learning about what Christ teaches on contentment - more specifically being content with what God has provided.

The world gives us plenty of reasons to doubt other peole and things, but today we are talking about a Christ-follower doubting the rock solid promises of God's Word.  Message brought by Henry Loftin.

Faith On

Restart the Heart

2 Chronicles 7:11-15

We have many problems in our society today, but I conclude that all of our human problems can be traced back to the human heart.  If we want to see our families, church, and country healed, we must get our hearts right.

Coveteousness - People be Shoppin'

Numbers 11:4-6

We live in a consumer culture.  America, and the church in Ameria, are beyond just materialistic.  I must remind us that the heart attitude driving this is the spirit of coveteousness.  God's Word has something to say regarding this.

A Lock Down in Philippi

Philippians  4:6-7

Today's Message is from Austin Binz.

Get Up and Go Forward

Philippians 3:12-14

Grumblers Anonymous

Numbers 11:1-10 - Week 1 of 8 week series titled "Taming the Tudes"

All the 12-step programs start with the problem, followed by the word anonymous., thus the title and subject of today's message.  Let's see how a heart attitude change will make our everyday lives better.

Dare to Care Attitude

Revelatoin 3:14-22

Continuing our series on Taming the Tudes.  Today's message addresses the apathetic attitude, which is rampant in the church in America today.

Blessed Be Your Name(s)

Isaiah 9:6

Most parents give great thought as to the name to give their child.  This is because names are important.  This has been the case for a very long time, especially in Biblical times.  So what is in a name?  Let's see what scripture has to say...

A Reason for Every Season

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

We hear a lot this time of year about the “Reason for the Season,” and certainly Jesus Christ should be the emphasis of the Christmas season. Today, I want to suggest that He is the “Reason for EVERY Season”.

A Familiar Story

Luke 2

Today's sermon is presented by layman, Jon Craig.

No Perfect People Here

Ephesians 2:4-10

If asked, "Why do people not come to church anymore?" there are many reasons given.  One of the top answers is the "fear of being judged by church people."  Ouch! We all need to remember that we were one a very broken person in need of a Savior!  We want to be a church that is an accepting church, not accepting of sin, but accepting of other sinners in need of a Savior!

Turkey Talk

Happy Thanksgiving

Psalm 100:1-5

Of the three "Christian" holidays observed today, Thanksgiving has done a better job of keeping the focus on God.  Of course, we should be thankful to HIM every day, but this Thursday is our once a year mega dose of gratitude!

Great Expectations

Jeremiah 29:11-13; Ephesians 3:20-21

Today's sermon title is borrowed from the book of the same name by Charles Dickens, because God is able to do much more than we can ever imagine.  God's power is unlimited and it is immeasurable.  We want our church to tap into God's power.

Semper Fidelis

In Honor of Veteran's Day

Ephesians 6:13,17

I appreciate every branch of our United States military, but I particularly like the Marine Corps motto - Semper Fidelis.  It means Always Faithful!  How does this relate to the veterans of Christ's army?  We are to be faithful to guard our minds from the enemy's assaults.

Universal Donor

Observance of Lord's Supper

I Peter 1:17-19

My blood type is O negative, which makes me a universal donor, meaning that anyone, with any blood type, can receive my blood and it not be rejected.   Today, our message focuses on the real Universal Blood Donor - Jesus Christ.

Betwixt and Between

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

2 Corinthians 5:1-9

Our message focuses on the intermediate state we will be in when we are no longer alive on this Earth in our Earthly bodies, and the time when we finally receive our resurrected, glorified bodies.  My prayer is that as you ponder the reality of the afterlife, that you will have a sense of urgency to reach "your one."

Fool's Gold

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

Luke 12:13-21

Everyone has heard of the California gold rush of 1849.   Successful miners had to be able to discern between valuable gold and worthless iron sulfide, or fool’s gold.  Let’s compare that to the Christian life - as Christian’s we must be able to discern between what is really important in life and what is not.   Let’s take a look at what the scriptures have to say in Luke Chapter 12. .

Harvest Time

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

Matthew 9:35-38                             ..

.Farmers work long and hard and they do so for one reason only. They work for the harvest! Everything rides on the harvest. Everything else is secondary to the harvest. If a farmer doesn’t see a harvest, he is just playing farmer in the dell. Likewise, a church that does not see a harvest is just playing church.

This Could be the One

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

Romans 1:16-17  - Christians give many reasons for not sharing their faith, but could a true born again believer actually be ashamed of the Gospel and the Savior who saved their own soul? Today’s message will address Who we have in us and from Where we get our confidence, Where our Power comes from, and What is the end product.

Sound the Alarm

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

Luke 16:19-31 - Today’s text describes Hades - the temporary holding place for non-believers.

If we know danger is on the way and we don’t warn people who will be impacted by the impending danger, there will be horrible consequences.   Where we go after we die depends on what we do with Jesus Christ in this life!

Dare to Care

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

Mark 2:1-12

Run the Race Well

Sermon Series - Who's Your One?

Hebrews 12:1-3

The Bible compares the Christian life to a foot race.  We need to understand, it is more like a marathon than a sprint, and as Christians, we need to finish the race well.
